His first contact with the Blues was through groups of Rhythm & Blues british of 60. Leads in the stages from the 15 years and now has been immersed in the tradition of piano blues, styles such as the Stride or the Boogie Woogie. Among its influences are, among others, Alan Price, Jerry Lee Lewis, Roosevelt Sykes, Memphis Slim, Otis Spann, Sunnyland Slim, Dr John, Professor Longhair, James Booker.

With his group, Stay blues, has been part of different Blues festivals and participated for five consecutive years in the Jazz festival of San Sebastian. In the summer of 2007, the stamp Gaztelupeko Hotsak published the first record of the band. Paul San Martin has worked in a timely manner with the french harp player Nico Wayne Toussaint and with Gerry Hundt, great architect of the mandolin blues of Chicago.

BERNAT FONT (Barcelona, 1989) Beginning in classical music, Bernat Font felt very early the need of exploring other styles by himself. “Old piano sound” lover and studious, when he discovered Jazz and Blues he decided he wanted to reproduce the styles of that era, assimilate them and create his own, a style which is halfway between the most primitive forms of Blues & Boogie Woogie and the more elegant swing of the mid-century; from Jelly Roll Morton to Art Tatum. Though interested and influenced by later styles as those of Red Garland, Oscar Peterson or Erroll Garner, he refuses to lose sight of tradition and origins and he is one of the few spanish pianists who can play ragtime and stride piano, parents of swing and, therefore, parents of all later jazz.

Nowadays he is the youngest active musician of those styles in the barcelona jazz scene. In 2008, catalan magazine “JAÇ” refered to him as the “young promise of blues in Catalonia (Spain)”. In his early twenties, he has played with almost all the recognized musicians and bands from Barcelona and Catalonia as well as with some international artists. Among his projects, we should point out Ivanow Jazz Group, renowned swing band he joined when he was 19, “Chocolat” from Companyia Divinas and Bernat Font Trio, which will soon be presenting his first album. Beside his work on the stage, he also works as a teacher in “Escola de Blues de Barcelona”.

At 7 years old, walking the streets of Essen (Germany), heard from inside a record store, the strains of blues piano of Memphis Slim. It is at that moment when he realizes the R & B will be his means of musical expression. At age 11, gave his first concert in Son Marroig (Mallorca) and will be followed by others accompanied by Kevin Ayers, Mike Olfield, Manolo Iglesias (Tequila), Concha Buika, Lluís Coloma, among others.

AUGUST THARRATS August is, without doubt, the pioneer of Blues and Boogie Woogie piano in Catalonia. Born in Barcelona in 1956, at the age of 4 he discovers the Blues listening to the recordings of Ray Charles, Louis Armstrong, Lionel Hampton ... He is self-taught in music, this is the reason for his humble approach to this music, creating a personal language. Maybe for this reason musicians as important as Teddy Edwards, Gene "Mighty Flea" Connors or B.B.King, have congratulated him for his way of playing Blues. Lover of pianists from Kansas City as Jay McShann, his interpretive quality and honesty stands out on stage. Musician with great capacity of communication, able to captivate the audience with a personal style, full of Blues, Swing and Boogie Woogie.
