BOB SEELEY (USA) Piano

Bob Seeley Born in Detroit, Bob Seeley, now in his 79 years old, is universally hailed as possibly the greatest proponent of boogie woogie and stride alive today. His hands travel at the speed of sound, his fingers almost at the speed of light, touching down briefly to stroke an ivory or ebony key before speeding on to another. With a wide repertoire, more than 100 songs, Bob plays Boogie Woogie, Blues, Ragtime, Stride… with an unmatched vitality and mastery.

His most conspicuous influence was Meade Lux Lewis, one of the three giants of boogie woogie (along with Albert Ammons and Pete Johnson), and a great friend of Seeley's. Bob first met the maestro during a Detroit gig in the late 1940s and a longstanding friendship in the 1950s and 1960s developed, which influenced Seeley's piano styling and has resulted in a very rhythmical form of boogie woogie. He also had a chance to play piano with none less than Art Tatum, who reportedly was duly impressed with the music of the relative youngster, with Eubie Blake and with Sippie Wallace, the great blues vocalist, among others.

He is an indomitable soul who has played at Carnegie Hall several times and most of the major venues throughout Europe in France, Germany, Austria, Ireland, Norway, Holland... Bob has played and taught many performances and seminars all over USA. Chuck Leavell (Rolling Stones Pianist) wrote him up, and he is considered in the books about Boogie Woogie story as one of the most important exponent of this style. In July 8th 2002 Bob was inducted along with Johnny Johnson (Chuck Berry's pianist) into the Boogie Woogie Piano Hall Of Fame in Cincinnati, Ohio.

DAVID GIORCELLI (ESP) Piano

David Giorcelli David gets into the world of Blues after attending Al Copley’s performance in Barcelona in 1993. His first influences were the old records of Rock and Roll. When he was 14, he started to buy some records of the most important piano players of Blues & Boogie Woogie as Memphis Slim, Pete Johnson, Jay Mcshann. Immediately he acquired his first piano.

He learned to play piano by himself and started to play at private parties in front of some friends with piano solo performances. Later, he takes part in many Jams Sessions in Barcelona Blues scene, where his first band of Blues, The Hipsters, arises. Nowadays David collaborates and plays with several local bands as Tota Blues, Mr. Hot Pocket Blues, The Black Cats, Predicardor Ramirez, Lazy Jumpers, Blue Heart, The Walking Stick Man, Acoustic Blues Company, etc.

His most important appareances has been at: Cazorla Blues Festival (2004), Almería Blues Festival (2005/2006), Nou Barris Blues Festival (2004), Cerdanyola Blues Festival (2004/2006), Cicle de Blues & Boogie de L’H (2005/2006), Rock & Roll Festival “Screamin” in Calella (2006), and various events as parties, meetings, conferences, etc. He has been playing with the Blues legend Louisiana Red and with Janis Martin. In 2007 David released his first Cd as a leader, “Rambling with my Boogie” and now is introducing it all over Spain.

AUGUST THARRATS (ESP) Piano

August Tharrats August is, without doubt, the pioneer of Blues and Boogie Woogie piano in Catalonia. Born in Barcelona in 1956, at the age of 4 he discovers the Blues listening to the recordings of Ray Charles, Louis Armstrong, Lionel Hampton ... He is self-taught in music, this is the reason for his humble approach to this music, creating a personal language. Maybe for this reason musicians as important as Teddy Edwards, Gene "Mighty Flea" Connors or B.B.King, have congratulated him for his way of playing Blues. Lover of pianists from Kansas City as Jay McShann, his interpretive quality and honesty stands out on stage. Musician with great capacity of communication, able to captivate the audience with a personal style, full of Blues, Swing and Boogie Woogie.

He was the piano player of Big Mama - The Blues Messengers group until September 1992. With this band he was introduced in the national scene. The same year he created his own trio, a year later he began his collaboration with singer Txell Sust with whom he has recorded 3 CDs (Blue Time, Gran Hotel Havana, Non Stop). Tharrats is member of Tandoori Lenoir group and has recorded a CD with the best known tunes of this All Stars band. As a sideman he played with international artists. Tharrats has played with important 'bluesmen' as Louisiana Red and Johnny Mars, trombonist Gene Conners, Sherley Johnson and the guitar player Guitar Crusher. He has taken part in several International Festivals of Blues and Jazz in Switzerland, France, Leon, Zaragoza or Terrassa, among others, as well as special productions as his duet with Amadeu Casas.

LLUÍS COLOMA (ESP) Piano

Lluís ColomaBorn in Barcelona (1973), Lluís is one of the most demanded pianists in the spanish Blues scene. Influenced from early age by records of Jerry Lee Lewis, Roosevelt Sykes and Alan Price, Lluís little by little moved away from classical piano studies to dedicate himself, in a self-taught way, exclusively to Rock & Roll. He showed very soon a surprising ability for Blues and Boogie Woogie. Lluís has been awarded with the prizes “Best catalan musician 2003” and “Artista BluesCat 2006”. From his beginnings in music, this great pianist has developed a personal touch in Blues & Boogie Woogie, creating his own compositions gathered in his records REMEMBER (Omix Records 2002), BOOGIEOLOGY (Fresh Sound 2005) and in his most recent LONELY AVENUE (Swing Alley 2006).

Lluís’ music can be heard in some of the most well-known spanish music festivals as Festival de Jazz de Barcelona (2007), Festival de Blues de Cerdanyola (2006), Festival de Jazz de Terrassa (2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2005), Festival de Jazz de Sanlúcar (2006), Festival de Blues de Roses (1997, 2002, 2006), Festival de Blues de Nou Barris (2002, 2004, 2007), Festival de Jazz de San Javier (2007)... and beyond spanish frontiers this young pianist has been invited to Cincinnati Blues Festival (USA 07), Miri Jazz Festival (Malaysia 06 & 07), Voxstock Blues Festival (Belgrad 06), Boogie Woogie Festival de LaRoquebrou (France 06), Boogie Woogie Festival Switzerland (Lugano 05 & 07)... among others.
